The label

Brown Environmentalist or BEEN is a movement to reclaim the idea of who BIPOC are in their history, present story, and future potential. The mission is to rid the idea that BIPOC are only one certain way in history: limited, defined or fit within the context of colonialism and white supremacy and, additionally in the case of indigeneity, crushes the idea that we are no longer here.

Rather, BEEN recognizes our inherent perseverance, magic, resistance, survival, and ongoing thriving being.

BEEN is a movement. It states we’ve been here, are here, and will continue to be here. Thriving and well.
